The Humble Retreat is hosted at a converted barn situated in an area of outstanding, natural beauty in All Stretton, South Shropshire. The bunkhouse provides simple accommodation in a fantastic setting for 8 guests and is within easy reach of walking routes along the Long Mynd.
The Bunkhouse provides shared rooms with comfy bunk beds. There are 2 rooms with 4 bunk beds, 2 toilets and 1 shower room. All bed linen and towels and will be provided to save your bags some space!
Sleep is important! Bed times are early at The Humble Retreat at 9pm. This gives you time to unwind and bed down with the quietness of the night.
The Humble Retreat provides wholesome, homemade food for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and in between treats!). There is no meat or alcohol served at The Humble Retreat.
All Stretton is a peaceful country village 1.2 miles from the closest train station and town, Church Stretton. The All Stretton Bunkhouse is conveniently tucked away a the foot on the Long Mynd, a walker’s paradise. Expect to see wild horses and breathtaking views as we make our way into the fresh air to enjoy the day and the beautiful nature that surrounds us.
Rest assured there are walkers of all abilities. Our Saturday walk usually takes 3 – 4 hours at a leisurely pace with regular stops and a longer rest for our packed lunch! We’ll all take one step at a time together.
For the keen walker or early riser there is an optional sunrise walk on the Sunday morning (with a 5:30am rise!). With beautiful views from the top of Caer Caradoc, a near by hill with wonderful views from the top. If you want to hang back at the bunkhouse and enjoy a lie in – that’s fine too!
The Humble Retreat is based at All Stretton Bunkhouse, Meadow Green, Batch Valley, All Stretton, Shropshire, SY6 6JW.
This old barn has been converted into a comfortable and basic bunkhouse. The wifi is patchy and there is no television so you can expect a technology detox during your stay!
Coming by car
The All Stretton Bunkhouse is located off the B5477 and is a mile north of Church Stretton. The bunkhouse is 300m on the right along the Batch Valley bridleway (up a rather steep hill!).
There are three designated parking spaces for The All Stretton Bunkhouse located outside the garage on the hill leading towards the bunkhouse.
At the bottom of the hill there is unlimited parking space run by English Heritage, and costs £2/night (although the machine hasn’t been working for some time!).
There are lots of trains to Church Stretton from Shrewsbury, Hereford and Cardiff. The bunkhouse is a 1.2 miles walk (or taxi) from Church Stretton train station.
There are also National Express buses to Shrewsbury and then hourly local buses from Shrewsbury to Church Stretton via All Stretton. Jump off the public bus at All Stretton’s Village Hall and walk a further 15 minutes to get to the bunkhouse.
